Description: The Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI) was founded by the HKSAR Government in 2000 with a mission of enhancing Hong Kong’s competitiveness in technology based industries through applied research. Owing to the continuous expansion in our R&D activities, we are seeking qualified professionals to fill the following position(s):

Job Duty:
? Provide smart-material design, such as mechanical structure design, smart-material selections (e.g. piezoelectric-based materials), for energy harvesting -related applications; and
? Responsible for reliability-related testing, design optimization, vendor survey, schedule control and testing/measurement.  

Requirement:
?Bachelor or Master degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or other related fields with related experience from graduation;
?Smart-material-related experience is desirable, such as fabrication and characterization of smart structures, experience in using finite element in optimizing the designs be a plus;
?Experience on patent mapping is a plus;
?Excellent communication skills; and
?An excellent command of oral and written Chinese and reasonably good in English and Mandarin.  

Application: Appointment will be on renewable contract terms with a competitive salary and performance-linked variable pay. Fringe benefits include paid leave, medical and dental benefits, insurance coverage and contribution to MPF. The incumbent will normally work under a five-day week schedule.

Job Duty: Duties:
.        Perform thermal simulation for optimizing the heat dissipation structure and mechanical design;
.        Perform outsource allocation for fabricating mechanical parts and system integration based on the engineering specification of products and working schedule in project execution; and
.        Support other R&D projects under the guidance of R&D director.

Requirement: Requirements:
.        Master degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent discipline;
.        2+ years experience in mechanical and thermal design;
.        Familiar with CAD software (SolidWorks or Pro/E) and CFD software (Flortherm or Icepak);
.        Experience in LED thermal solution especially in LED BLU or LED projector is preferred;
.        Familiar mechanical design & stress analysis;
.        Familiar with CNC machining processes and mass production processes such as stamping, injection, die casting and etc., is a plus;
.        Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills; and
.        Team player and good command of oral and written communication skills in English and Chinese.
