Fluent 6.4 Prototype
FLUENT6.4(ANSYS/FLUENT12.0)
Today ANSYS announced the beta version of the newest computational fluid dynamics CFD programme FLUENT 6.4. The biggest change is the a new user interface that has been created. I've installed and the installation went fine. It placed an icon "Fluent 6.4.7" on my windows desktop and when I clicked it the program came up with a new feature, The Fluent Lancher:
This neat feature replaces the old selection launcher. But when I click OK nothing happened! Only if I started fluent in parallel using a long command line, I got to see the real deal:

The graphical layout has finally changed to a more modern style where everything is composed into one single window. The new windows consists of 4 windows, where 2 of them are the old graphics's window and the FLUENT command prompt. So not much of an update in my eyes. The problem with this is that the graphical output is about one quarter of the total window, so if your are used to resize the window to something bigger you wont benefit from the new layout. A Full Screen option would have solved the problem.
Sweep planes
The first thing I tried was the Sweep Surface Animation plane, where a planes sweeps a surface within the geometry showing you the desired computed value. The set-up was easy, but unfortunately it all went to fast on my computer, so I did not have time to see the development. A fixed time step between frames would be nice to have. Also I would like create a sweep surface that uses a streamline as a guide instead of the various coordinates X,Y and Z.
